Okay, so maybe not.
More likely than not, extras work hours upon hours a day for the slim possibility of being able to spot themselves in the background when the movie finally hits the theaters in a year or two. However, it can be cool to see some of the behind-the-scenes effort that goes into making a movie, and you may get the chance to meet some of the stars.
And, if you're an extra in the right movie, you can win a 2011 Chrysler 200.
Beginning around 4:30 a.m. a week ago Saturday, approximately 11,500 extras started to file into Pittsburgh's Heinz Field. It was going to be a long day filming a major action scene for the movie “The Dark Knight Rises” (due out summer 2012).
To keep people around and entertained for the long day, Chrysler Brand offered a new Chrysler 200 to one lucky person, and showed several TV ads on the stadium's giant scoreboard, including the Emmy-nominated, two-minute "Born of Fire" commercial that kicked off the Chrysler 200 and "Imported from Detroit" campaigns.
At the end of the long day around 7 p.m., Alex Dreisbach of Pittsburgh, was randomly chosen -- by Dark Knight villain Bane, played by Tom Hardy -- in the drawing. Hardy also helped present the new Chrysler 200 to Dreisbach and friend, Lauren Annibale. Chrysler is working with Dreisbach to get him the Chrysler 200 of his choosing and working out delivery details.
